Centenial Gala

I have been slacking at posting lately, but I wanted to document the fun we had at the Centennial Gala we attended for the SJ Quinney Law School a few weeks back. It was held at the Natural History Museum in Salt Lake City. I love that building, the design is amazing. ( at the Gala we found out the same architect is designing the new law school, so we are now even more excited to see how that building turns out) The invitation said Formal Dress so I was pretty excited thinking I could get a new gown and Brian a tux. 9 the little girl in me still loves to play dress up)  Well sadly as the event got nearer we discovered they really meant cocktail attire, but non the less we were excited for a nice night out.

We were so impressed by the food and if we wouldn't of gotten weird stares and stood out amongst all the big wigs in attendance I would have taken pictures. Rather than a basic potato bar we received mashed potatoes in a martini glass and a table full of toppings, fancy toppings like bacon crumbs, pesto, and a variety of other sauces. The food was so fancy! Even their roast has fancy stuff on it. It was a lot of fun to try new foods and to meet so many people. There were only a few students in attendance so Brian introduced me to a couple classmates as well as a mentor he has for a program he is a part of. We also met a first year associate he had met the day before during a firm crawl. She had just graduated last year with a JD/ MBA so we had lots to talk about and she was super helpful with the information and experiences she shared. We learned what she felt was most beneficial as well as what she would have done different if she were to do it again. So valuable. We also met lawyers that were practicing in the area Brian is most interested in so it was great to talk with them and to network.

Going to this event made me feel more a part of this incredible journey Brian is on. He is having so much fun and is loving it so much, being able to meet those he spends so much time with these days was a lot of fun.Since it was held at the museum after hours we were also allowed to wander the exhibits, at times we were the only ones around so we were a little spoiled. Nothing like it would have been like had we been there in the middle of the day with a bunch of kiddos running around.

Like I said we would have looked funny taking pictures so here are some online pictures of where the event was, they don't do it justice, the building is incredible and so are the views from the roof terrace.
