Gender Ultrasound

Friday was the big day, we found out that the little one is a BOY! We are so excited about it. Now we can really start focusing on just boy names and plans for the Nursery. Most of my fears around having a boy are based on Brian's personality. Brian is very carefree and stories of his childhood are filled with broken bones and chaos. I had my wild moments as a child, most that my mom was never made aware of. I seem to have learned at a young age how to act around my parents. My poor church teachers on the other hand got a child my parents never knew. I think they only heard about the really wild moments. The ultra sound was a lot of fun. I always hear about how the baby is tucked up and mellow and that it takes a little work to get them to cooperate. We had the opposite experience. That little guy did not stop moving. He was kicking his feet, waving his hand, arching his back... basically the moving did not stop. Not sure if it was the time of day (4pm) or if he is just going to be a wild thing but it sure did make the whole thing exciting. The tech said I have about 4 more weeks till I start feeling all that movement, so I guess we will see soon enough if that movement is happening all day or not. Brian had a close eye on the screen and nearly jumped out of his seat when she said it was a boy.

It is fun to see how things have already changed now that we know what's in there. Name ideas are flowing, we got the rocker/ ottoman and dresser painted this weekend. Started looking at ideas for decorations. The furniture is now in the babies room and all that is left is a crib to really make it look like a babies room. With Brian in school weekends are really the only time we have to work on things together so the three day weekend was great. We got a lot done!

I wasn't feeling great on Monday so Brian took the girls up to Dog Lake with some friends. Its about a 2 mile hike there and 1.5 back down the other side. At the top is a lake. Apparently this is like a dog park in the woods. People just let their dogs off their leashes and they go up to the lake where they run around. Brian LOVED it. I was thinking there would be a few dogs but he said every hiker had at least one dog with them but some even had 3 or 4, and the parking lot was packed. He said there were dogs everywhere. I imagine this is what heaven would look like for Brian. He absolutely loves dogs. He said as they hiked they got to pet all the dogs walking by. I was a little worried as our dogs can get protective at home when other dogs come around. Outside of the house they are fine but I was still worried they would just bark and be annoying. Brian said they were perfect once the leashes were off, they played with the other dogs and in the water no problem. Abby acts like an old dog and we thought she might not like the long walk. Both made it to the car and quickly crashed. It made for a very quiet night at our house. They didn't even want to follow me around the house. They just picked a spot and landed there for the night. Its funny how everything we do now we think about how it will work with a kid. Brian came home excited that lots of people had babies in backpacks on the hike. We only have a few more weeks of nice weather before winter is here so we will see if we can fit in another trip to dog lake before then. If not I am sure this will be new favorite when winter ends for us.
