So a must we had in apartment searching was a washing machine and dryer. We didn't want to have to worry about going to a laundry mat or really being able to fit it into our schedule. so we found a place with hook ups and bought a set ourselves. well that was in NOV. a couple weeks ago washer stopped spinning and made horrible noises when it tried to. next day in came a repair man to Brian's work Brian asked him about it and the guy confirmed our fears he said he charged less than the average guy and he would charge around $200 yikes! So we looked at buying a new one that was around $300 so do we fix it and save $100 or buy a new one with the risk of not needing it at the next apartment.?! well I was weird about calling a repair man cause I know nothing about the jargon of repairs and didn't wanna be worked by a man who did so I put it off and off till Brian got fed up and was gonna call but needed numbers so I looked some up online and stumbled upon the most marvelous site "virtual repairman" on the site this man video tapes repairs and gives you step by step directions the repair man Brian talked to and the "virtual repair man" both said not spinning for a whirlpool machine meant the drive coupling needed to replaced. so could buy the piece online through the virtual repair man but shipping seamed expensive and home depot doesn't sell those parts in store so i ordered it online through home depot took a week to come in the mail man missed us and we needed to confirm delivery.... so got out of work early yesterday:) so went to post office got package and little pieces in it... Brian got home from work and we got right to work. in less than an hour we had the machine torn apart replaces the piece and put back together...
we also tested a quick cycle and started a load. we are so excited about our new skill. my dad a couple years ago gave me a tool kit and wow every piece we needed was in that thing so awesome!! and besides Brian nailing his finger with a hammer ( yes it was an awkward upside down angle) the whole process was positive and we'll do it again if we ever need to. being able to clean your clothes from home is the best feeling ever!
